Blame the Ghoul

Posted in Screen Shot of the Week on October 21, 2008 by holdwineOne of the perhaps intended consequences of the new Achievement system is that players like me, working towards the Exploration achievement, end up visiting some areas of the old world we never knew existed. The following screenshot was taken, not in Zangarmarsh, but in Desolace in a remote area called Shadowbreak Ravine.
Apparently, the site is a Burning Blade cultist encampment that Horde mages have to visit for a class quest. One of the other cool sites that I did not take a screenshot of was a stables with Dreadsteeds, called Burning Blade Nightmares, and a “Captured Stallion.” Someone in the comments section of the previous link suggests this whole area might have been created for an unimplemented level 40 Warlock mount quest. Sounds reasonable to me.
My Little Pony
Posted in Screen Shot of the Week on August 24, 2008 by holdwineThe Death Knight mount quest is fun and relatively easy. The quest is as follows: you have to sneak into the Havenshire stables and steal a horse. There is an elite stablemaster who will own you if he sees you, so you have to wait until his patrol is safely out of your aggro range. Once you have mounted your horse and rode back to the Scourge quest-giver, he gives you another quest that will transform the tame, brown and white beast into a black Death Charger.
Well, as I discovered last night, not only are stallions and mares available for thievery and metamorphosis into a dark steed from hell, but one can also select a colt for transformation.
That’s a Draenei Death Knight straddling the poor little critter.

A Moment in Time
Posted in Screen Shot of the Week on March 19, 2008 by holdwineThis is a shot of Holdwine flying down into the Caverns of Time on the back of a dragon.
Prior to our Zul’Aman raid last night, I went down to Tanaris to buy the enchant recipes off the Keepers of Time quartermaster. Note to Blizzard: please, please open the portal to CoT in Shattrath soon!
I felt so stupid when I got there, though. I thought my Enchanting was at 360, but it turns out it was only at 350. I could not even buy the enchant recipes for later use. So I traveled all that way for nothing. Well, at least I got this purty screen shot.
