For several months now I’ve been writing about my World of Warcraft experience over at my personal blog, A Pilgrim’s Digression. However, although that blog was meant as a generalist blog about everything that interests me (hence the title “digression”), for awhile now I’ve had the thought that I ought to create a blog specifically for chronicling my adventures in Azeroth and Outland.
Probably like many other payers, my friends (not to mention my wife) have grown tired of my frequent emails detailing my raiding schedule for the week and what Heroics I’ve been running, how much gold I need for my epic flier, and how close or how far I am from meeting my other in-game goals. And I know for a fact that when I write about WoW on my personal blog, friends tell me they just skip those posts.
Thus the creation of “Kilrogg Was Here,” my World of Warcraft blog. I hate to segregate this aspect of my life from everything else, but obviously there is a need for some sort of demarcation between “real” life and “WoW life.”
Just to explain a little about me and my goals, I play a 70 Gnome Warlock, Holdwine, on the RP realm Sentinels. I am a happy member of Blades of Light. I am an occasional raider within my guild, but due to family committments, I am not hardcore. I don’t have a “spot” in a raid group. I sign up for raids when I can, which usually means I go to Karazhan or Zul’Aman a few times a month. however, we are going to attempt Serpentshrine Cavern for the first time tonight, just to see what it is all about. Tomorrow we go back to Kara.
I am slowly building my arsenal of gear for both PvE and PvP, mostly through raiding and spending my Badges of Justice. I am slowly building up Honor and Marks to buy dedicated PvP gear, but I don’t PvP more than an hour per day, if that, so it will take awhile before I have all my Gladiator gear. Currently I only have the gloves.
I don’t have my epic flying mount, which is a sore spot to me. I have been thinking lately that I need to move this up on my list of in-game goals, if not to number one then to number two on the list. I still tend to think gear (and having fun while raiding) ought to be number one.
My reason for creating this blog is to have a forum to write about my adventures, and to have a sort of game diary of what I am up to. This game is a big part of my life, and just as I once kept a diary of my daily real-life events, I want to keep a log of my daily in-game activities.
